World Book Day – Thursday 2nd of March
The children are very welcome to dress up as their favourite literary character. I should say everyday is world book day here in nursery! There are always stories being read and books being explored.

Pre-School Eye Test – Friday 17th March
The optician will be in on the Friday morning to test the eyes of the children of pre-school age. You’ll already have received a permission slip if your child is included. If you don’t usually attend on a Friday but want your child to have the test, come in around 9.30 and we’ll get you the first slot available. The wee one can have the eye test then you can both get on with your day.

Bunny Bounce and Easter songs – Friday 31st March, 1.15
You’re invited to join us to enjoy some Easter songs, then cheer the wee ones on as they carry out the annual Bunny Bounce! This basically involves them jumping around the hall forty times – quite a lot for a wee person – and then receiving a gift left by the Easter Bunny! I’ll issue sponsor forms nearer the time and any pennies raised will be so greatly appreciated. If you don’t usually come in on a Friday afternoon but would like to join the fun, just bring your wee one in at 1.15 – the more the merrier! Please note that nursery will close for the Easter holidays at 2pm that Friday to allow parents with primary school children time to get to school for the early finish.

Mothers Day – Sunday 19th March
Mums, stop reading now!! This is for the dads. Our fundraisers are organising a wee mothers day craft so you can purchase a lovely, personalised gift for our wonderful mums! More details to follow so watch this space!

Easter Holidays – 3rd till 16th of April.
First day back will be Monday 17th. Have a great break and enjoy yourselves if you’re heading off somewhere nice.

Monthly voluntary donation
As you know, we ask all families to donate £10 per month if possible to nursery. This goes towards the copious amounts of art and craft materials your cherubs get through! It helps replace damaged resources, covers the aforementioned easter eggs, Xmas presents, and allows me to have extra staff in to facilitate events like the Bunny Bounce where we want to invite you all in! This donation is purely voluntary – and I’m so well aware of increases to all of our costs of living – but if you can make that donation, it is so much appreciated.

New team member
Please join me in welcoming Caroline Long to the team. Caroline is taking up the nursery cook/assistant role and we’re very glad to have her on board. Caroline joins us from a primary school kitchen so has lots of relevant experience and tasty recipe ideas – we’re sure they’ll be a hit with the wee ones. Her email address is caroline@clarkstonnursery.co.uk so feel free to share any family favourites with her. Allergies etc should still come through me though please. I know you’ll all join me in wishing her success in her new role and in making her feel very welcome.
Thanks again to the multi talented Eleni who has ably managed the kitchen during this recruitment process – wonder woman!

Clothing
Could I ask you to give some thought as to how you dress the children for nursery with regards to toileting please? Particularly toilet training! Tight clothes, boots etc make it difficult for nappy changing – and even for older children, it hampers their independence if they’re having to ask for help. Just think comfort! Loose comfortable clothing which is easy for the children to manage would be much appreciated.
